A comprehensive SAP ERP solution on its own hardware platform will be the result of a migration project that is being carried out by BCC for Rzeszów-based Zakład Metalurgiczny (Metallurgical Plant) – one of the largest heavy industry plants in Podkarpacie region.
Zakład Metalurgiczny WSK Rzeszów Sp. z o.o. (ZM), which now employs over 800 people, was created as a result of separating foundry operations from the company WSK PZL Rzeszów, owned by the concern Pratt & Whitney. Since March the company has had a strategic industry investor. The operating of the plant’s foundry as a fully independent company requires moving SAP solutions that previously worked on the hardware platform run by WSK PZL Rzeszów.
The project, which has been conducted by BCC since July, will result in migrating SAP ERP functional solutions and the data concerning ZM, as well as installing and starting the system on the hardware platform owned by ZM. The contract also covers the purchase of SAP software license for 70 users.
The following SAP ERP areas have migrated: financial accounting, fixed assets, controlling, material management, production planning, sales and distribution and human resources management. After the project finishes, which is scheduled for January 2008, SAP ERP system will handle all the company’s key business processes.
”We have chosen BCC to carry out the project because of their wide experience in this type of migration. A good opinion on BCC’s work in SAP projects at WSK PZL Rzeszów and references from other metallurgical plants were also important”, said Jacek Zapalski, Chief Specialist for IT Systems at ZM.
”Thanks to the project we will gain our own ERP solution that will support the most important management areas. The SAP ERP system will create for us, now a completely independent entity, a solid base for further development and market expansion”, added Władysław Jasiczek, Board member and commercial director at ZM.
