Schneider Electric in Bukowno uses new SAP functions (like integration with bar codes), which improve planning and confirmation of production, picking and dispatching to the distribution centres.
Schneider Electric employees and BCC consultants executed a project developing SAP functionality by new production planning and registration tools. The necessity of changes in SAP system was resulted from expanding the plant in Bukowno (new assortment groups were introduced, production scale significantly rose, the rules of cooperation with customers changed), and organizational changes. The plant has started delivering final products to a French distribution centre in the form of picked and packed batches, including items compliant with the order placed by the customer in the distribution centre.
Now every batch is marked with a bar code related to the customer order. Integrating bar code readers with Schneider’s SAP system will improve the organization of logistic chain and the level of customer service. Goods are produced strictly according to the placed orders. Before dispatching to the distribution centre, batches are checked in terms of compliance with the orders. Customer orders are handled on the first-come, first-served basis.
The changes in logistic processes in Schneider Electric resulted in the need to introduce modifications in SAP. Configuration works were carried out by BCC in March and April. Since the beginning of May Schneider Electric Bukowno has been using the new solution, which in the way described above supports up to 1,000 orders handled monthly.
Schneider Electric Polska has been using SAP since 2001. A comprehensive SAP implementation (in finance, controlling, project management, materials management, production planning, sales and distribution) was carried out by BCC.
