GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals (GSK), a leading manufacturer of pharmaceuticals, is going to use SAP functionality in the scope of recruitment via the Internet. The implementation project, one of the first projects of that type in Poland, is executed by BCC.
GSK has been using SAP system solutions for several years now, also in the area of Human Resources and Payroll. Every month, several hundred new job applications are processed through the GSK recruitment system. That is why it was recognised that automation of the recruitment process, achieved by activation of SAP functionality in the area, will considerably increase the efficiency of the HR processes. The implementation project began in July 2003 and is executed by BCC. The functionality is expected to become operational in September 2003.
SAP functionality in the area of recruitment will support GSK employees by providing electronic history of contacts with candidates and scheduling further actions along the defined paths of procedure. GSK employees will be able to use automatic comparison mechanisms, matching the candidates qualifications with requirements set for a given position. SAP functionality will also enable production of breakdowns for the purpose of the recruitment process efficiency analysis – from the point of view of the number of applications, costs and duration of the procedure and types of the used, so called, recruitment tools.
The idea of the solution assumes that the system will process data coming from both: the candidates applying for a specific position and the, so called, spontaneous candidates (whose letters of application do not refer to a specific vacancy). The candidates database will be fed with applications entered via the GSK Internet site by the candidates themselves and by the agencies running for GSK the recruitment procedures within the frames of the commissioned projects. Also traditional, manual registration of candidates by authorised employees will be possible.
The recruitment functionality will be integrated with Lotus Notes mail. Thanks to the integration it will be possible to maintain e-mail correspondence with the candidates. Replies will be generated automatically – in result of decisions made upon a candidate (invitation for an interview, rejection of the application, etc.).
The SAP solutions based recruitment implementation project is realised by a team of GSK employees from both Human Resources and IT Departments managed by Mr. Tomasz Bortlisz. From BCC side it is co-ordinated by Mrs. Aleksandra Luty. The implementation of SAP functionality in the scope of recruitment via the Internet is another project executed by BCC for GSK in the area of Human Resources Management. BCC has already worked with GSK in the scope of implementation of elementary SAP HR functionality in 3.0F system version. In 2002 BCC upgraded the SAP HR system used in GSK to version 4.6c.
