BASF, the biggest chemical concern world-wide, has chosen BCC to support SAP system migration. The scope of BCC works includes SAP solutions used in five countries: Austria, the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary.
So far the corporate SAP system, used by BASF units in various countries, was based in Germany. Nowadays BASF is transferring SAP installation to the USA, at the same time completing and unifying SAP solutions, so that particular countries may use a consistent and efficient model of management support by an IT tool.
Part of the project concerning Central European countries is being carried out by employees of SAP competence centre of BASF seated in Poland in cooperation with BCC. The project also engages BASF employees and consultants from other countries.
BCC consultants will cooperate with BASF in actions such as verifying and settling the global scope of migration. The project also assumes transferring SAP configuration with ABAP objects (SAP extensions used by BASF), adjusting them to the convention and standards defined by system administrators in the USA. BCC will also prepare and carry out tests of the transferred functionality, prepare a productive start and support users during the start of the new system.
"Execution of such a complicated IT project that involves a few dozen people from several countries and has a great impact on company’s operations is quite a challenge. The complexity of the project will also be heightened by separate legal regulations in particular countries. In this case the implementation company should take into account legal specificity of all countries in the target corporate model. For all these reasons we wanted a company with wide experience in corporate SAP implementations. That is why we have chosen BCC as a leading BASF partner for Central Europe", says Katarzyna Jedynak, project manager for BASF.
The productive start after migration to the new system is scheduled for January 2006.
