GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals S.A., a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer in Poland, has decided to rely on BCC’s extensive support in upgrading their SAP system from version 4.6C to SAP ECC 6.0, a project launched in May of this year.
The upgrade will cover a vast scope of SAP functionalities already applied in the company – from finance, fixed assets, treasury, through controlling, materials management, production planning, quality management, to sales and distribution. Additionally, the upgrade includes the so called technical core of the system (Basis module), together with the migration to a modern character encoding standard, called Unicode.
BCC’s role is to provide extensive SAP technological and application support to GlaxoSmithKline employees, and jointly manage the project carried out by teams made up of GSK employees and BCC consultants. The new SAP ERP version is to be handed over to the users by February 2010 .
Supporting the upgrade to version SAP ERP 6.0 is the next step in the long-standing cooperation between the pharmaceutical manufacturer and BCC. In 1996-1997, BCC consultants participated in SAP implementation in the then Polfa Poznań – it was one of the first SAP implementations in the country. In the following years BCC supported GlaxoSmithKline in numerous SAP projects, including the implementation and development of SAP HR.
