In July BCC completed the deployment of a solution for a leading producer from the metallurgical sector which aimed at centralizing the documentation related to business processes within which the implementation or maintenance projects are carried out.
The major task of SolDoc is to keep the entire documentation in one place. However, SolDoc is not a plain content server as it allows to integrate the documentation with e.g. transactions, tests, incidents, change documents. The goal of SolDoc deployment was to customise the documentation directly “for the customer”. It was achieved by creating the documentation templates, using the selected types of documentation and also by creating the complete structure of business processes.
SolDoc structure is a sort of a guide supporting the navigation between business processes and documentation attached to each step which includes a detailed functional, technical documentation, materials for tests, training materials, while any revealed inconsistencies contributed to connecting the documentation with change documents in Change Request Management.
Through the integration with other tools provided by Solution Manager it can be assured that documentation will be updated more frequently. Moreover, Solution Manager itself will inform us of any missing documentation for a selected business process thanks to the available reporting options.
